My hair loss formula that actually works

Topical Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha has been shown to help promote hair regrowth without lowering DHT. None of the active ingredients are being absorbed into the body and all the benefits of local to the scalp. Here is my full article on it to check the results of the study. I use 1 dropper full on my hairline.

L. reuteri

Animals who use L. reuteri have more (and healthier) hair than those who don't. L. reuteri has also been shown to dramatically reduce the telogen phase and increase the anagen phase. This means that their hair was in an anabolic/growth phase more often, leading to more hair. I've definitely noticed less hair shedding in the shower. I'm currently using the 100 billion units (2 caps) of the Toniiq brand.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is great for boosting NAD levels and everything that needs to repair and grow requires NAD. This is more of an indirect addition as I couldn't find any evidence that niacinamide helps promote hair growth. But from my personal anecdotal experience, niacinamide thickens my hair. I use 500mg-1g mostly on days when I drink alcohol.

Cardamom

This was a totally unexpected discovery. Earlier this year I was experimenting with cardamom for metabolic benefits and noticed that it took my dandruff away and hair shedding in the shower was significantly reduced. I used 1/2 tsp twice daily. I'm not using this one currently anymore.

My current experiment

L. reuteri.

I want to see if it will increase my testosterone, IGF-1 and DHEA-S and lower cortisol. L. reuteri is a super interesting probiotic that has been shown to:

Increase oxytocin
Help with fat loss
Enhance energy
Improve hair and skin health
Increase testicular size and testosterone levels
Help build muscle and speed up recover
Improve the immune system
Increase thyroid size
etc.

There was a recent 2024 study showing that L. reuteri PTA 6475, the strain that increased testosterone in animals, didn't increase testosterone in humans (R).

Unexpectedly (and unfortunately), it also had zero effect on CRP, SHBG, LH, DHEA-S, TSH, T4, cortisol, insulin, HbA1c, cholesterol, trigs and a few other markers.

This doesn't look good for me. But in the study, they used 500 million and 5 billion units per day. I'm using 100 billion units a day, at least 20 times more than the highest dose in the study.

Also, I'm using the LR08 strain from Toniiq and not the PTA 6475 strain. So we'll see. I'm getting my labs done next week and will keep you guys posted.

What I've experienced so far:

Good stable mood. I feel more joking and less serious.
Ability to stay focused and work without any other aid (e.g. coffee, methylene blue, B1, etc.)
Fast recovery during training
Lubed joints, especially my knees and elbows. This one was really surprising to me. In the past, my elbows would always feel iffy when I did tricep exercises such as skull crushers. Now I'm going heavier than I've ever gone with zero iffy-ness.
Better flaccid hang
Better verbal fluency
Blunted appetite (this would make a deficit easy to adhere to)
Enhanced penor sensitivity (not something I want, but great for those with poor sensitivity)
Almost zero inflammatory pimples on my arms and back. I used to get inflammatory pimples here and there, nothing too major, but it's completely gone now. If I do get a pimple, it's non-inflammatory and comes out dry and easy (sorry for TMI).

That's about it. I must say I like it a lot. I'm getting zero side effects from it, which is great. I'm definitely going to continue to use it into my second month, even if it doesn't increase my T, DHEA or IGF-1 or anything.
