Yesterday I made this tweet.

"Stop taking "just in case" supplements. You're wasting 1000s of dollars on supps that are doing nothing and potentially even harm. Find the root cause and use 1-2 supps to fix that. Nothing else."

I see time and time again people using many supplements that they don't need. And when I ask them if they need it to address a problem, they say no.

For example, "I'm taking zinc and vitamin E to keep my estrogen low."

Me: "Did you have high estrogen before?"

They: "No."

Then why do you take it?

At best it's doing nothing and at worst, it's causing imbalances and other issues.

Then I got this comment on my tweet.

"Disagree. Root cause? That's cool if you have a problem IF you don't, prevention is good like natto ubiquinol mg blabla"

I agree that prevention is better than cure, which is why I focus so much on the right diet and lifestyle.

That's the prevention.

If someone takes prevention supplements, their diet and lifestyle aren't dialed in enough.

And regardless of how good your prevention stack is, you can out-supplement a bad diet and lifestyle.

Yes, you might be better off than the guy who didn't take the stack, but not nearly as good as the guy who just focuses on the basics.

And most of these guys who are taking a boatload of prevention supplements are far from optimal.

Poor sleep.

Low motivation.

Lack of morning wood.

And so on.

Because if their diet and lifestyle were optimal, they wouldn't even feel the need to take supplements.

I've been there.

Struggled with anxiety, depression, poor sleep, ED, etc, and I used supplements to patch it.

But after doing the basics for long enough, I have no need for supplements and don't feel much of anything when I do use supplements.

That's the ideal state I like to be in.

Feel so good all the time you don't need supps.

And when you do lab work, everything is spot on. No need for prevention supps.

A good diet and lifestyle are all the prevention you need.
