I had a conversation with a client the other day.

One of his biggest concerns was hair regrowth, and he wanted to know if finasteride was a good idea.

He had already been using it for a few weeks but decided to stop. He felt like it was causing brain fog and worsening morning wood.

He also did some lab work and tested testosterone, but not DHT.

Overall, he was very healthy, yet his testosterone was in the 300s—which is low. He didn’t test DHT, but best-case scenario, it wasn’t higher than the 30s (also very low).

Here’s what I told him.

1️⃣ Men with Low DHT Don’t Respond Well to Finasteride

DHT in the 30s is extremely low, and research shows that men with low DHT are generally unresponsive to finasteride.

They don’t get the same hair loss prevention "benefits" as those with higher DHT (>60s).

2️⃣ Finasteride Doesn’t Regrow Hair—It Only Slows Loss

Finasteride does not regrow lost hair.

It can reduce shedding, but here’s the breakdown:

✅ 50% of men experience some improvement in hair thickness
⚠️ 25% see no more loss, but also no regrowth
❌ 25% continue to lose hair, even while on finasteride

The reason some men think finasteride causes "regrowth" is because existing hair follicles that haven’t shrunk too much enlarge again, making hair appear thicker.

Thin hair exaggerates baldness. Thicker hair reduces the appearance of hair loss.

But once a hair follicle shrinks past a certain point, finasteride cannot bring it back.

That’s why half of men see no benefit. And the other half is just thickening hair they already had.

Finasteride Side Effects Are Real—But Underreported

Yes, finasteride might slow down hair loss. But is it worth the trade-off?

Side effects like brain fog, loss of morning wood, sexual dysfunction, depression, and poor sleep creep in slowly.

And here’s the danger:
➡️ The body adapts to a "new normal" over time.
➡️ You don’t notice the changes until you experience what real high-androgen energy feels like again.

A guy who lost his leg 30 years ago (or even 1 year ago) may feel just as happy as an athlete with two legs—because he adapted.

That’s what happens on finasteride. People adapt to lower DHT, thinking they feel fine—until they stop and realize what they lost.

I guarantee you, if those same men boosted their DHT, they'd wake up feeling like a different person.

DHT Isn’t Useless After Puberty—That’s a Lie

Some "experts" claim DHT serves no purpose after puberty.

Give them DHT, and watch their story change.

Most men feel:
✔️ More dominant, confident, and driven
✔️ More aggressive in the gym
✔️ Higher libido, stronger erections, and better mood

Don’t Accept Your "Normal"—Or Hair Loss
