I ran a poll yesterday on whether people would like to boost DHT using a herb or DHT gel.

Surprisingly (or not) 45% voted that they'd want to use DHT gel.

The benefits of DHT gel are:

You know exactly how much DHT you're putting in the body
You can use more or less if you want (dial the dose)
You know for a fact DHT will go up
You're putting only DHT in your body and there aren't other variables, so the effects are more likely to be "pure"
You don't have to inject
It upregulates 5-alpha reductase too

Downsides include:

Suppression (LH will be shut down). But this doesn't matter if you don't care about it.
Fertility will go down (not in all cases)
Potentially having to add in other compounds to fill in for the other hormones that have been shut down.

So all in all DHT gel seems to have a lot of upside and almost no downside. It is best to use DHT with T as they work better together. DHT on its own is still great, but adding T is better.

So the question is...

Should you use DHT gel?

If you want to, why not?

DHT supplementation has not been shown to cause hair loss, enlarge the prostate or worsen any disease. On the contrary, it's protective against most conditions.

But here's what you should do.

Always focus on improving your health.

Whether you're on TRT and/or DHT gel or not, always focus on improving your health.

Low testosterone or DHT is 99% of the time an underlying health issue.

When you bypass your low T or DHT with exogenous sources, you're not fixing the health issues.

A zinc deficiency doesn't just lower T, it causes many other low-grade issues. Which you'll never be able to fix without zinc.

Yes exogenous testosterone and DHT are protective and healthy, but they can't solve low zinc.

This is why I always advocate for proper testing and fixing the root cause regardless of what you're doing or using.
