Taurine is hands-down one of my favorite supplements.

It’s not just hype — it actually does a lot:

Improves focus and mental clarity
Speeds up post-workout recovery
Boosts nitric oxide (hello, better blood flow and erections)
Increases brain DHEA and acetylcholine
Enhances insulin sensitivity
Supports liver function
Lowers oxidative stress and inflammation
Improves erections
And yes… it can increase LH and testosterone

Sounds like the perfect amino acid, right?

But here’s the twist:

There might be a bell curve effect for testosterone.

One animal study showed that taurine supplementation increased LH and testosterone in healthy rats — and restored both hormones in diabetic animals.

Sounds incredible.

But another study found something interesting:

1% taurine in the diet led to the best testosterone and LH levels
1.5% started to bring those numbers back down

It raises the question…

Is there a threshold where taurine goes from helpful to harmful for testosterone?

Now, most people aren’t pounding 12g+ of taurine per day…
But it can be easy to overdo it — especially when you're chasing performance.

In my own case, I decided to push the limits.

In 2024, I ran the Georgi Dinkov (aka Haidut) Testosterone 2.0 protocol, which includes:

15g taurine daily
Along with several other compounds designed to support testosterone, DHT, and dopamine

Haidut claims this stack took his testosterone to over 1500 ng/dL.

So naturally, I had to find out if it would do the same for me.

The result?

I documented everything:

My exact stack
Dosing
Before and after bloodwork
How I felt throughout the process
Whether the mega-dosed taurine helped or hurt my hormone levels

Let’s just say… it wasn’t what I expected.

Taurine is powerful.
