In some cases, antibiotics can increase testosterone, but in most cases, they will lower it.

Erythromycin has been shown to increase testosterone in some cases by killing specific bacteria that "deactivate" testosterone.

However, antibiotics can also kill beneficial bacteria and they are known to cause pathogenic bacteria and fungal overgrowth.

Harmful bacteria can lower testosterone by causing:

Leaky gut
Whole body inflammation
Endotoxin absorption
Nutrient deficiencies (by reducing nutrient absorption)
Reducing testicular and thyroid function
and more.

Poor gut health was a big reason why I struggled with crazy dandruff, blurry vision, bacne, hair thinning, lack of morning wood, low libido, brain fog, etc. You get the idea.

Ulrich from TestoTribe has been suffering from kidney problems since 18 (which contributed to his low testosterone). His main approach to fixing his problems was to focus on kidney health.

I asked him when it started and what had happened during that time.

He said that it started around 18 when he used a lot of antibiotics.

Bam! Origin and possible root cause identified.

I told him "Chances are you have overgrowth of specific pathogenic bacteria and/or fungus from the anti-biotics. You can dramatically optimize gut health by optimizing diet, using a few probiotics and maybe a prebiotic, getting lots of sunlight and fixing hypothyroidism. But even that might not be enough to kill a pathogen. If everything has been dialed in for 1-2 months and things are still hit or miss, I'd recommend doing a stool test."

Now that we've identified that, we can focus on what really matters and what will fix his issues.

Here's how I'd go about fixing gut health

Step 1

Eliminate all inflammatory foods or foods that worsen your symptoms. Some people know what symptoms to look out for and others don't even know their symptoms are caused by specific foods. That was me.

Step 2

Consume nutrient-dense foods.

Every cell in our body has mitochondria, which require vitamins, minerals and (animal-based) anti-oxidants to function at peak capacity. Any deficiencies (coming from the diet or due to genetics) will reduce proper cellular function, leading to poor performance of that organ. Hence kidney problems, low testosterone or poor thyroid function.

Step 3

Maximize digestion.

It doesn't matter how amazing your diet is, if you don't properly break down the food you're eating and absorb the nutrients, it doesn't matter.

That's the power of addressing the right thing.

Step 4

Optimize transit time.

When it's too fast (loose stool or diarrhea), there isn't enough time for the nutrients to be absorbed, thus creating deficiencies.

If it's too slow, the bacteria have more time to ferment the contents in the colon, creating more toxins and inflaming the large intestine. This causes leaky gut and whole-body inflammation.

Step 5

Once everything above has been dialed in and the problem still persists to an extent, this is when I'd do a stool test to see if there is a pathogen that's causing the issues. Once the pathogen is identified, we use a specific supplement or stack to kill it.

Once you address the root cause, everything will improve and return to the way it was.

Gut health is complex and there isn't a one size fit all protocol for it. However, there is a step-by-step approach I use for everyone (as listed above) to optimize gut health. You just have to identify which part of gut health you need to focus on.

Once you digest your food properly, absorb all the nutrients and experience no inflammation, testosterone and health will skyrocket.
